Owen Pell were tasked with delivering a new 3m wide, dual-purpose cycleway and pedestrian footpath right on our door-step, running alongside the Straight Mile, which intersects through the middle of Rotherwas Industrial Estate, to aid in delivering wider local green initiatives such as cycling and walking to work. The works included an initial site clearance of a dilapidated area of verge along the roadside riddled with debris and rubbish, to make way for new edging kerbs, of which over a linear mile were installed.
This was then surfaced using a new single-layer Tarmac product to accelerate the programme and prevent the need for multiple visits of subcontractors. Upon the completion of the surface course, a specialist buff-coloured coating was applied to delineate this from standard footways, complete with thermo-plastic lining and pedestrian signage and bollards.
New
Construction
These works were completed with some final landscaping touches such as fencing to the ditch that runs to the back of the footway, and dressing of topsoil to tie the new construction to the existing verge.
